Synopsis
Walder Wyss was the first large Swiss law firm to build up core competencies in the field of TMT. From the outset, Walder Wyss’ TMT practice has been growing and is unique in Switzerland both in terms of size and expertise.
We strongly believe that the professionals active in the team should not only be top class legal experts and advisors, but at the same time feature in-depth knowledge of technical backgrounds and market practices, needs and behaviours. In addition, Walder Wyss, from the outset, took a strong engagement in international organizations and networks of law firms with a particular focus on technology. As a result, we are not only knowledgeable on Swiss developments, but maintain a deep understanding of the prevailing trends in all relevant jurisdictions.
This being said, trends and buzzwords such as AI, digitalisation, blockchain or Fintech are not just used for flagging the team’s abilities. Rather, internal cross-department expert groups actively work and elaborate scenarios for the related developments in order to be in the best position to anticipate and grasp with new challenges, all this based on a thorough background and know-how of practical, legal, economical and other implications. A large part of our recent work has been dedicated to cloud migration projects, in particular for regulated industries.
The high number of qualified professionals in our team allows us to cope and comprehensively deal with larger and multi-stream projects. In close cooperation with the litigation team of Walder Wyss, most of the lawyers in our TMT practice do not only provide consulting services but are also actively involved in TMT litigation. It is our insight and firm conviction that effective structuring, drafting and advising depends to a large extent on experience on how similar matters are dealt with in case of dispute and/or looked at by a judge or arbitral tribunal.
Walder Wyss is open and poised for future growth. Around 320 fee earners make us one of the largest law firms in Switzerland. Our goal is to further invest in new technologies, document management and document automation.
